Boeing's $2B St. Louis Expansion Fuels 500 Jobs, Missile Boom

Boeing announced a $2 billion expansion of its defense operations in St. Louis County, Missouri, on Friday, creating approximately 500 high-skilled jobs in the region. The project, centered at the company's aerospace facility, supports surging U.S. military contracts including $2.7 billion in multiyear deals for Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile seekers, with Boeing set to deliver over 3,000 units at up to 750 per year through 2030. St. Louis-based Paric Corp. was selected as the lead construction firm, joined by Detroit's Barton Malow, requiring some 1,200 construction workers to erect the new infrastructure.

The expansion aligns with Boeing's growing role in national defense, including a separate $2 billion U.S. Air Force contract to modernize B-52 bombers with Rolls-Royce F-130 engines, though primary work occurs in Texas. In St. Louis, the focus sharpens on missile production amid geopolitical pressures, reinforcing the site's status as a key Patriot seeker hub. Paric Corp., a veteran St. Louis contractor, broke ground preparations Tuesday, underscoring the project's momentum. The 500 permanent jobs target engineers, technicians and production specialists, boosting family incomes in St. Charles and St. Louis counties.
