BSU Nursing Graduate Eloundou Pursues Critical Care

Steeve Eloundou graduates from Bemidji State University this spring with a nursing degree and plans to work in critical care before pursuing medical school or training as a certified registered nurse anesthetist.
Eloundou came to BSU from Yaoundé, Cameroon, drawn by affordable tuition and quality education. As an international student paying his own way, cost mattered.
He majored in nursing with a pre-medical emphasis, motivated by patient care during vulnerable moments. "Taking care of people during the most vulnerable time of their lives is an utmost privilege," he said.
Outside the classroom, Eloundou joined BSU's International Student Organization, attending events like Festival of Nations. "It was one of those times when I would feel like I am at home," he said.
Balancing nursing and pre-med coursework required discipline. Eloundou credits his faith, family, friends and instructors for sustaining him through four demanding years.
His advice to incoming students: use available resources, believe in yourself and build meaningful connections with others.
