Boone County Animal Services is introducing a new initiative aimed at enhancing pet safety and owner connectivity through its PawFinders rabies licenses. This program offers pet owners an added benefit when registering their dogs and cats with the county.
For an additional fee of $2.99, owners can register their pet on PawFinders.com. Each Boone County rabies license will feature a unique QR code on the back. When a pet with a registered PawFinders license is lost, a finder can scan the QR code using a smartphone camera. This scan will directly connect the finder with the pet's owner.
Owners have the flexibility to choose how they wish to be contacted, with options including direct phone calls, links to social media accounts, or other preferred contact methods. This feature aims to expedite the reunion process between lost pets and their families.
More information about the PawFinders rabies licenses, including details on how to register and how the system assists in finding lost pets, is available on the PawFinders.com website.
