The Belvidere Police Department and Belvidere Park District are joining forces to offer a free Junior Police Academy for local youth. The program aims to foster responsible citizenship, build positive relationships between young people and law enforcement, and educate participants about the challenges and duties of police work.
Scheduled for Friday, October 9, the academy will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rivers Edge Recreation Center. The interactive event will feature a mix of hands-on educational activities, games, and opportunities to learn directly from Belvidere police officers.
The Junior Police Academy is open to children aged 8 to 12. Registration is required, with a minimum of 10 participants and a maximum of 30. The program is completely free for attendees and includes a t-shirt, pizza lunch, ice cream, and giveaways.
Residents interested in enrolling their children can use code 302311-01 when registering. The Belvidere Park District is managing registration for this collaborative community initiative.
