The National Weather Service (NWS) New Orleans LA issued this warning on October 7 at 9:59 PM CDT, indicating a danger of life-threatening storm surge and tropical storm-force winds within the next 36 hours. This warning expires October 8, 2026, at 6:00 AM UTC.

Residents in affected areas should act now to complete preparations before hazardous conditions arrive. Plan for dangerous winds between 25-35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph, and potential for gusts up to 58-73 mph. Prepare for significant wind damage to property. A life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. If evacuation orders are issued for your area, leave immediately.
