Wind Advisory Issued: Gusts Up To 50 MPH Expected
A Wind Advisory is in effect for parts of Virginia and West Virginia from this afternoon until Sunday morning, with gusts up to 50 mph expected, potentially causing downed limbs and power outages.
A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service in Charleston, WV, affecting residents in parts of southwest Virginia and southern West Virginia. Strong winds are expected from 5 PM this afternoon until 11 AM EDT Sunday.
Southeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are anticipated. This advisory is in effect for Dickenson and Buchanan counties in Virginia. In West Virginia, affected areas include McDowell, Wyoming, Northwest Raleigh, Southeast Raleigh, Northwest Fayette, Southeast Fayette, Northwest Nicholas, Southeast Nicholas, Northwest Webster, Southeast Webster, Northwest Pocahontas, Northwest Randolph, and Southeast Randolph counties.
Residents should secure outdoor objects as gusty winds may blow them around. There is also a possibility of downed tree limbs and isolated power outages. These conditions are due to a strong east to southeasterly wind field associated with the remnants of Isaias, interacting with higher terrain, particularly along ridgelines and areas prone to downslope flow.
