Martinook Scores in Double Overtime to Lift Hurricanes Past Senators
Jordan Martinook beat Linus Ullmark at 13:53 of the second overtime to lift the Carolina Hurricanes to a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators on Monday night.
Martiinook's game-winner came after officials overturned what appeared to be a winning goal during the first overtime period. Martinook had also been stopped on a penalty shot earlier in that same session before finding the back of the net in the second extra period.
The Hurricanes secured the victory in a back-and-forth contest that required two overtime sessions to decide. Ullmark, the Senators goaltender, made multiple saves but could not stop Martinook's second-overtime attempt.
The result improves Carolina's record and marks a significant comeback for Martinook, who had to overcome the disappointment of the overturned goal.
