Life-Threatening Storm Surge Expected for Southern Hancock, Evacuate Immediately

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Southern Hancock, with life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet possible through Saturday morning, prompting immediate evacuation for some areas.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Southern Hancock, effective immediately from the National Weather Service in New Orleans, LA, as of October 8 at 10:01 PM CDT. This warning includes the communities of Kiln, Pearlington, Bay St. Louis, Diamondhead, and Waveland.

Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible through Saturday morning. Residents in surge-prone areas are advised to leave immediately if evacuation orders are given to avoid being cut off from emergency services. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations should be completed before conditions become unsafe.

Wind speeds are forecast to be below tropical storm force, with peak gusts of 20-30 mph, reaching up to 45 mph. Little to no additional wind impacts are expected, but conditions may be gusty.
