Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Northern Hancock: Prepare Now

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Northern Hancock, including Necaise and Sellers, urging immediate preparations for hazardous winds and localized flooding.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Northern Hancock, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service in New Orleans, LA. The warning was issued at 4:03 AM CDT on October 8 and expires at 12:15 PM UTC today, October 8.

Residents in Necaise and Sellers should act now to complete preparations. Hazardous winds of tropical storm force (39 to 57 mph) are possible. Peak wind forecasts are 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, but the potential exists for stronger winds. Limited damage to porches, awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes is possible. Expect many large tree limbs to break and some scattered power outages.

Around 1 inch of rain is forecast, with potential for localized flooding. Be prepared for rapid ponding in low-lying areas and possible brief road closures. Heed any flood watches and warnings. Tornadoes are not expected at this time, but remain informed of forecast changes.
