Aventura families can attend a series of workshops with Florida International University (FIU) to learn effective strategies for raising confident and competent children while reducing parental stress. The first workshop, titled "Raising Confident, Competent Children," takes place Oct. 9.

This session introduces parents to six core building blocks for children's success: fostering respect, encouraging consideration, developing communication and social skills, building healthy self-esteem, promoting problem-solving, and nurturing independence.

Participants can earn two volunteer hours by completing a workshop. Sessions are held in the ACES Middle School Cafeteria and begin at 9 a.m. An RSVP is mandatory. Interested participants can register online.

The workshops are a collaboration between FIU's Center for Children and Families, Aventura City of Excellence School (ACES), and The Children’s Trust Parent Club. The initiative aims to equip parents with practical tools to navigate raising children.
