Polk Sheriff's Office Cold Case: Denise Thornburg's 1990 Death
Polk County Sheriff's Office is seeking information in the 1990 strangulation death of Denise Andrea Thornburg. Anyone with knowledge of the case is urged to come forward.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office continues to seek information regarding the unsolved death of Denise Andrea Thornburg, who was found deceased Sept. 22, 1990. Her body was discovered next to a canal on the west side of County Road 471, an area familiar to many in Bartow and surrounding communities.
An autopsy determined Thornburg died as a result of strangulation. At the time of her discovery, she was nude from the waist down. Authorities noted she had been drinking prior to her death and frequented the area near Talbot House.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit is actively seeking any new leads or information that could help bring closure to the case. Investigators urge anyone who may have known Thornburg or has knowledge of the events surrounding her death to come forward.
