Bartow Fire Dept. Adds New Public Safety Services

The Bartow Fire Department offers residents a variety of community services beyond emergency response and training, aiming to enhance public safety and well-being.

A sharps container drop-off and pick-up point is available for individuals who administer injections, ensuring safe needle disposal.

Residents can get their blood pressure checked daily at the fire station from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The department provides a tracking card for readings. For those unable to visit, call 534-5044 to arrange an at-home blood pressure check.

The department also provides and installs smoke detectors for individuals in need. Florida law requires property owners to supply working smoke detectors in rental units.

A safe baby drop-off point is available at the fire station for individuals unable to care for an infant. The department assures that any baby left at the station will be placed in a safe environment, with no questions asked.

Homeowners can request a home fire safety check-up by calling the department, which includes assistance in designing a home fire exit plan.

Businesses can benefit from a pre-incident survey. Fire department personnel will survey commercial properties to gather essential contact information and understand the building's layout and functions, which can be crucial in emergencies.
