VTVLC Launches Credit Recovery Option for Struggling Students

VTVLC’s New Credit Recovery Option by VTVLC | Jun 3, 2026

VTVLC’s New Credit Recovery Option by VTVLC | Jun 3, 2026 Failing or struggling to complete a class shouldn’t derail a student’s education or expected graduation date. That’s why VTVLC is launching a new type of course offering beginning this spring: credit recovery. With credit recovery courses, students who previously failed or did not complete a course can earn their required credit by demonstrating mastery of the required standards rather than repeating the full course. Students often qualify if they failed a required course, did not complete coursework, demonstrated partial mastery, or need credit to remain on track for graduation.  Why Choose Credit Recovery Our credit recovery courses emphasize learning mastery, so students can focus on unmet standards, rather than re-treading familiar material. We use pre-assessment to personalize learning and allow accelerated completion to provide targeted instruction and assessment.  Plus, like all VTVLC courses, credit recovery is offered online so students can work when they want, from where they want, for a customizable experience that students can tailor to their individual needs.  Details at a Glance:  Course Length: 8–12 weeks Enrollment: Rolling admissions, meaning students can begin their learning whenever they are ready to start Format: Modular, mastery-based learning Pre-Assessment: Determines required modules & assessments Credit: Students enroll in a full half-credit or one-credit course. Instruction: Facilitated by Vermont licensed teachers (with OTS) Course Options  Our initial credit recovery course options will include social studies, mathematics, and language arts courses to get students back on track. The courses available for credit recovery include:  Algebra I Algebra II English I English II  Geometry American History American Government World History  The bottom line? Credit recovery offers students an accelerated path to regain credit with personalized, mastery-based learning. With Vermont-licensed teacher support and flexible timelines and enrollment, VTVLC’s credit recovery option supports on-time graduation pathways.
