Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Decatur; Act Immediately
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Decatur, including Bainbridge, until this afternoon, bringing hazardous winds, potential major flooding, and a risk of tornadoes; residents must act immediately to protect life and property.
Decatur residents, including those in Bainbridge, must take immediate action as a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective October 9 at 8:28 AM EDT and expiring at 4:30 PM UTC today.
Prepare for hazardous winds between 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. Efforts to protect property should be underway now, including securing lightweight objects. Limited damage to porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes is possible, along with scattered power outages.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, potentially leading to major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and flood waters could enter structures. Roads may become impassable.
The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly. Tornadoes can cause significant damage, power loss, and communication failures.
