Averill Park Students Win SkillsUSA State Championships
Two Averill Park Career and Technical Education students earned recognition at the New York State SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Championships, held April 22–24 at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
Madelyn Danaher won selection as a State Officer, a position that requires an interview before a panel and places her at SkillsUSA events statewide. Maria Dickson-Melber placed second in the Cosmetology Quiz Bowl, competing against students from cosmetology programs across the state.
The three-day competition drew Career and Technical Education students from across New York to compete in skill-based contests judged by industry professionals. SkillsUSA contests span trades including cosmetology, culinary arts, welding, and automotive technology. The Cosmetology Quiz Bowl tests knowledge of hair care, skin care, nail technology, and salon safety procedures.
