Residents in Coffee, Atkinson, Echols, Clinch, and Northern Ware counties should be aware of a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Jacksonville FL at 5:02 PM EDT, effective until 5:45 PM EDT today, September 20, 2026. A strong thunderstorm is currently being tracked 7 miles south of Pearson, moving southwest at 15 mph.

The primary hazards associated with this storm include wind gusts around 40 mph and minor flooding due to heavy rainfall. Radar has indicated these conditions. The NWS warns that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor flooding from heavy rainfall is also possible.

Locations impacted include Homerville, Pearson, Willacoochee, Argyle, Du Pont, Manor, Cogdell, Millwood, and Axson. If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building immediately.
