On Tue, Apr 21, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm, the Hagen Ranch Road Branch will host the Once Upon a Family Parent Fair. This event is designed to educate, empower and bring families together in a meaningful way. The Once Upon a Family Parent Fair is a community-driven initiative that brings together trusted organizations from across Palm Beach County, all focused on supporting parents and caregivers. Whether you are a new parent or raising school-aged children, the fair offers practical tools, expert guidance and opportunities to connect with others navigating similar experiences. The community organizations involved include: The Breastfeeding Coalition of Palm Beach County The Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County Healthy Meals Out of School (FLIPANY) Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County HomeSafe Palm Beach County Food Bank Safe Kids Palm Beach County 211 Helpline One of the standout features of the event is a free bike helmet giveaway, along with professional helmet fittings provided by Safe Kids of Palm Beach County. Proper helmet fitting is critical for child safety, and having trained professionals ensure a correct fit makes a real difference in preventing injuries. Families will also have access to lactation support and breastfeeding resources from the Breastfeeding Coalition of Palm Beach County. For new and expecting mothers, this kind of support can be invaluable. It provides both education and reassurance during an important stage of early childhood development. In addition, National Library Week will be celebrated at the parent fair with fun activities with a fairytale theme like decorate a castle and make a crown. The event is free and open to the public. Families, teens and community members of all ages are encouraged to attend.

"The “essential-yet-disposable” paradox exposed by the COVID-19 pandemic has made the Fair Food movement’s call for enforceable safety and human rights protections for farmworkers more urgent than ever before.  Essential workers harvesting the food we eat need more than performative appreciation for their labor — they need access to PPE, sick leave and a complaint mechanism for reporting concerns related to their health and safety on the job that triggers a thorough investigation and swift resolution."
