The City of Archer's Public Works Department maintains round-the-clock availability to address residents' water and street concerns. Staff are on call seven days a week, 24 hours a day, to respond to water or street issues within city limits.

The department manages the city's water plants, water mains and fire hydrants. Public Works also repairs roads within city limits, excluding state and county roads. The department addresses customer-related water problems at entry points and oversees approximately 570 water meters.

Residents experiencing water or street emergencies outside of regular business hours can call 352-495-2880 to reach an after-hours staff person who will connect them with the appropriate Public Works personnel.

Archer draws its water from the Florida aquifer, chlorinating it to meet Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) disinfection regulations. The raw water undergoes frequent testing according to DEP yearly monitoring schedules. The city's water operator maintains the correct chlorine residual in the system and ensures DEP compliance through scheduled water tests and analyses.

The city's water operator prepares a Consumer Confidence Report detailing water quality information. Residents can find this report on the city's Annual Reports & Postings page under Administration.

The Public Works department's motto is "Public Works Works for You." Residents should use the provided contact number for any urgent needs.
