Anoka Police Get State Grant for DWI Enforcement
The Anoka Police Department received a grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to expand impaired driving enforcement. The funding covers overtime costs for officers working additional shifts and conducting saturation patrols in high-risk areas during peak impaired driving times.
The department will participate in statewide DWI enforcement campaigns coordinated across multiple agencies, particularly during holidays when impaired driving increases. Saturation patrols concentrate officers in specific locations to identify and stop impaired drivers before crashes occur.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety distributes these grants to local law enforcement agencies statewide as part of efforts to reduce traffic fatalities and injuries.
