special operations K9 unit In 1975 APD Officer John Flora was killed when responding to a burglary. A fund was created in his honor with the sole purpose of providing a canine to assist officers during high-risk incidents. LEARN MORE Investigative support unit (ISU) This team assists detectives, crime suppression units, and patrol shifts in locating and apprehending high-risk violent offenders. LEARN MORE crisis negotiation team (CNT) Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT): The team responds to situations involving barricaded subjects, hostages, suicidal threats, and/or mentally disturbed persons. LEARN MORE special weapons and tactics (Swat) Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT): A select group of sworn officers with specialized initial and continued training, and unique equipment.
