EXTREME HEAT WARNING: Santa Ana Mountains & Foothills Brace for 100°F
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills until October 8, with temperatures up to 100°F expected; residents should take precautions against heat-related illnesses and strong winds.
Residents in the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills are advised to prepare for dangerously hot conditions, with temperatures expected to reach up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning, effective immediately until Thursday, October 8, at 8:00 PM PDT.
Alongside the extreme heat, a Wind Advisory will be in effect from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM PDT on Saturday. East winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, are expected. These strong winds could blow around unsecured objects, potentially cause tree limb damage, and lead to scattered power outages. Driving may be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, so extra caution is advised.
The NWS stresses that heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. To stay safe, residents are urged to drink plenty of fluids, remain in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors. Never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can reach lethal temperatures rapidly.
This Extreme Heat Warning was issued on October 2 at 12:25 PM PDT by NWS San Diego CA.
