The Program is no longer printing duplicate licenses and mailing them out. In order to receive a copy of your license, you will need to reach the OCP Online Business Portal, Operator Certification Program Activity, and select the request type "Request a copy of my License." After completing this process, a confirmation email with a PDF attachment of your license(s) will be sent to the login email and email attached to the operator's profile in our database. There is no fee associated with this request. Keep in mind, you will need your Profile Number/ID to complete this process. PSI's Exam Scheduling Contact Information All Operator Certification Program exams are administered via computer-based testing through our testing vendor, PSI. Once you receive an examination approval letter from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, you can schedule online or call 855-557-0617 to schedule your exam. For more detailed scheduling information, please review the candidate handbook located on the PSI website. California State University Sacramento (CSUS) Course Updates The CSUS Office of Water Programs has updated their program offerings for wastewater. CSUS is no longer offering the Advanced Waste Treatment course, which was an Approved Exam Course for the Wastewater Class B examination. The new Approved Exam Course for the Wastewater Class B Examination provided by CSUS is titled Operation of Wastewater Treatment Plants, Vol 3. This course includes 2 enrollments, A and B. General Education Development (GED) Acceptance DEP's Operator Certification Program accepts only GED issued by the American Council on Education through an approved GED administrator. In Florida, the approved GED administrator is the Florida Department of Education through its network of public schools and adult education centers. (Note: Depending on your location, some testing centers are paper- or computer-based. Enter your ZIP code under Testing Center Information.) Licensing Process Florida Statutes require that anyone who operates a drinking water treatment plant, domestic wastewater treatment plant and/or water distribution system be licensed by DEP. To qualify for licensure, an applicant must meet minimum educational and work experience requirements for each class of license. A passing score is required on the exam for the type and level license desired. Learn more about the Operator Certification Program (Program Handbook). Step 1: Apply for Exam - I have completed my approved training course and I am ready to take my exam. Examination Information – Applications, deadlines, fees, locations, handbooks and reference material. Veteran Services – The Department of Veteran Affairs offers reimbursement of fees associated with professional licensure exams to qualified veterans. Please contact that agency for more information. Step 2: Apply for License - I have taken and passed my Florida exam and I am ready to get my license. Licensure Information - Applications, fees, educational requirements, experience requirements, certification handbook. Distribution System Operator Licensure. Renewal Information License Renewal Information – Requirements, procedures and fees. Continuing Education Requirements and Providers – Information, requirements and providers. Renew your license online and pay with your credit card. If you have not completed your required amount of continuing education, you should begin making arrangements now! Do not wait until the last minute when all classes are full and unavailable. You can search the status of your Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Please note that the splitting of CEUs is prohibited. An example of this would be a management course worth 4.0 CEUs. These CEUs cannot be split into 2.0 for water and 2.0 for wastewater if you are dually licensed. For us at ASPE specifically, we consider the implications for SP methodology. The ASPE Executive Committee started noticing a pattern of receiving emails from members wanting support and guidance around AI. In November of 2025, the ASPE Board of Directors approved a Steering Committee focused on AI and SP methodology in response to members seeking guidance from ASPE leadership on how to navigate changes brought about by AI technology. The charge of the Committee is to provide guidance, support and resources to ASPE membership. Outcomes expected are that simulation educators are empowered to be proactive in discussing new technologies in ways that bolster human simulation methodology. The Committee was formed from members who had reached out to the Executive Committee, as well as interested members of the ASPE Board of Directors. I am the current leader of this Committee. The first meetings were intended to be exploratory in nature. This is because the terrain is new, and we didn’t want to be prescriptive in a way that undercuts understanding the full breadth of what people are experiencing. We’ve also been talking about what we are noticing collectively and allowing structure to form along the way. We have established working groups to help develop deliverables for the community. One of those working groups is a toolkit group that has been working diligently to collect current tools and develop a living document for the community, one that will continuously update with the latest resources specifically useful for those working in SP methodology. Other projects that have sprung from this Steering Committee include a survey to the membership about AI and how it is being implemented, and a Thrive community which is one of our newest developments — more news to come as that unfolds. Dr. Lou Clark and I have done two webinars, one with Inspirational by Design® and one with HealthySimulation, on the topic of Human Simulation and AI considerations for the present and future. We have signed an affiliate agreement with the Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Simulation Collaborative (AI-HCS) and are very excited to move forward with people who are thinking about these questions in the larger simulation community. We invite all members attending the conference to join us during the Conference where we will be presenting and discussing the work of this Steering Committee together. Please refer to the agenda for exact dates and times. If you are unable to attend, we want to hear from you as well. More information about how to engage will be coming soon. We have also been tracking the incredible work that our members are doing regarding AI, including book chapters, published articles, presentations, and other scholarship emerging from within our community. As this grows, we anticipate developing a more formal way to collect and celebrate that work. One of the things about the implementation of AI is that it is fast. I want to remind all of our members that one of the greatest attributes of this community is that we are flexible, highly generalizable, and ready to continue moving forward into the future. An example of this is when we started this Steering Committee. It was as much about tracking the work that was already being done as it was about identifying resources for the membership. That is another example of the power within this community. What has become clear is that the work of SP methodology, so highly focused on memory, attention, communication, and collaboration, has been building the exact skill set of a professional group who is ready to be at the front of the conversation regarding how humans and technology will interact in the future. Our goal is for ASPE to be recognized as such. Other simulation organizations have accreditation/endorsement pathways to recognize centers adhering to best practices (SSH, SESAM, INACSL). Developing an accreditation process would be a significant sustainability activity for ASPE, elevating SP programs worldwide and reaffirming our standing as the world’s most respected authority on human simulation.
