Red Grammer Brings Music to Lynnwood Elementary
Children's musician Red Grammer performed at Lynnwood Elementary School, leading students in songs about kindness and peace. The entire student body joined in sign-language motions during "Teaching Peace," a song they had learned in class.
Grammer has worked with the school since the early 1990s. His music now appears at assemblies, morning meetings and character-building gatherings. Each year, retiring staff members receive a performance of "I think you're wonderful!"
The performance featured multiple languages, sign language, dance and audience participation. Grammer invited student volunteers to write new verses to "Down by the Sea." Retiring second-grade teacher Chris White joined him on stage after 35 years at the school.
Grammer has won Grammy and Parents' Choice awards. His album "Teaching Peace" remains his most recognized work.
