The City of Obetz is seeking public input on a proposed project to construct an ADA-compliant paved multi-use path at Dixon Quarry. This project is part of a broader effort to improve accessibility, safety, and connectivity throughout the community. The proposed path would enhance access to recreational areas and connect to existing and planned trail systems in the region, supporting long-term mobility and outdoor recreation opportunities. Project Overview The proposed multi-use path would: Provide an accessible, paved route for pedestrians and cyclists Improve connectivity within Dixon Quarry and surrounding areas Support safe, inclusive access for individuals of all abilities Align with regional trail and infrastructure improvements Potential Environmental Considerations As part of the planning process, the project will evaluate potential impacts to: Natural areas within and surrounding Dixon Quarry Nearby waterways and drainage features Vegetation and wildlife habitats All environmental considerations will be reviewed and addressed in coordination with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). Gary E. Vizyak Sr., 79, of Avella, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 14, 2026 in his home.He was born on June 4, 1946 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Bernard J. and Patricia Semenick Vizyak.Gary attended Union High School of Burgettstown and was a specialized glassworker for Brooke Glass in Wellsburg, WV, for 43 years.He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, cutting grass and gardening.On June 1, 1968 he married Vera Darlene Wilkins, who survives.Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 57 years are his children, Gary E. Vizyak Jr. and his wife Leslie Cunningham-Vizyak, Mark Vizyak and his wife Jessica Vizyak and Steve Vizyak and his wife Amy Vizyak; seven grandchildren, Gary E. Vizyak III, Zachary Vizyak (Dianne Bugaile), Jocelyn (Jason) Cunningham-Atkinson, Brennan, Cadence, Gavin and Kolton Vizyak; three great grandchildren, Jade, Wyatt and Le’von; a brother, Bernard G. (Nancy) Vizyak.All funeral arrangements are private and being handled by Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., Avella, PA.Condolences may be expressed at www.stefkovichfuneralhome.com.

Rita Andrews Craig, 95

Rita Andrews Craig, 95, of Washington, formerly of West Middletown, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, in Southmont Presbyterian Senior Care.She was born on August 6, 1930, in Patterson Mills (Cross Creek Township), PA, daughter of the late Delbert Leroy and Nellie Belle Kuhns Andrews.Rita was a 1948 graduate of Avella High School and was a member of Grove U.P. Church of West Middletown.She had lived in West Middletown from 1952 until she and her husband moved to Washington in 2004. While living in Washington she was a member of the Retired Persons Washington County Chapter 1354 and the Washington Senior Citizens.Rita’s family was very important to her, and she was very involved in raising her nieces and nephews; babysitting all of them through the years. She loved to make quilts, cook, garden and tend to her flowers.On November 23, 1949 she married John Stanley Craig, who passed away on February 1, 2011.Rita was the last of her immediate family. Surviving are, her sister-in-law, Ann Andrews; and several nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by her great great niece Liliana.Deceased in addition to her husband of 61 years and parents are, three brothers, Leroy L., Lester S. and Harold “Pete” Andrews; and a sister, Geraldine Gally.At the request of the deceased there will be no visitations. A private graveside service will be held in West Middletown Cemetery.The family would like to thank Presbyterian Senior Care Network and Gateway Hospice.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Attn: Shriners Children'sProcessing Center, PO Box 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394. All arrangements are being handled by Jerome A. Stefkovich Funeral Home Inc., Avella.
