Important Dates

Important Dates July 1: The first day of the fiscal year. Delinquent secured accounts are transferred to the defaulted tax roll. An 18% annual interest charge (1.5% per month) is applied to the base amount, plus a $15 redemption fee. July 1 – 15: Power to sells are recorded for 5-year defaulted taxes. July 20 – 31: Unsecured tax bills are created and mailed to taxpayers. July 31: Delinquent tax bills are mailed out. They include 2 payment coupons; one is to remit payment in full, and the other is to initiate an installment plan. July 31: TOT Quarter 2 due date, and Cannabis Quarter 4 due date. August 1: 3-year publication will be generated. Any taxpayer with 3 or more years of delinquent taxes will be published in the Newspaper, even if they are enrolled in an installment plan. August 31: Unsecured tax due date. Unsecured property taxes become delinquent if not paid and are subject to a 10% penalty. R&T Code 2922 (a)(b). September 1: 10% penalty added to unsecured property taxes. September: Annual current secured tax bills generated. October 1: Annual current secured tax bills begin going out in the mail. October 1 – 10: Courtesy lien notices are mailed to taxpayers for unpaid unsecured taxes for boats, businesses, and unsecured supplemental bills. October 31: TOT Quarter 3 due date, and Cannabis Quarter 1 due date. November 1: The 1st installment due date for the current secured property tax bills. December 10: The 1st installment delinquent date. This is the last day to pay the 1st installment of the current secured property tax bill without penalty. A penalty of 10% attaches thereafter. January 1: Lien date established. The owner on this date will be billed for taxable unsecured property the following fiscal year. R&T Code 2192. January 1: Estimated taxes begin being collected for lot line adjustments and mobile home tax clearance certificates. January 10: Reminder notices are mailed out for any unpaid, current secured taxes. January 12: The 1st installment due date for Cannabis cultivation. January 31: TOT Quarter 4 due date, and Cannabis Quarter 2 due date. February 1: The 2nd installment due date for the current secured property tax bills. April 10: The 2nd installment delinquent date. This is the last day to pay the 2nd installment of the current secured property tax bill without penalty. A penalty of 10% and a $10 cost fee attaches thereafter. April 10: 5-year installment plan annual amounts are due. April 30: TOT Quarter 1 due date, and Cannabis Quarter 3 due date. May 10: Reminder notices are mailed out for any unpaid, current secured taxes. June 12: The 2nd installment due date for Cannabis Cultivation. June 30: The last day of the Fiscal Year, and the last day to pay current taxes and penalties before they default. The website and phone payment system will be down temporarily beginning at 11:59pm.
