TALLAPOOSA COUNTY – Residents in Alexander City and Dadeville are urged to complete preparations immediately as a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Tallapoosa County by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL. The warning is effective from 9:56 PM CDT on October 9 until 6:00 AM CDT on October 10.

Hazardous winds are expected, with peak forecasts of 15-25 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes is possible. Expect many large tree limbs to break, with some trees snapping or uprooting. A few roads may become impassable due to debris, and scattered power and communication outages are anticipated.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 1-3 inches of rain possible, potentially leading to moderate flooding. Rivers and tributaries may swell, and floodwaters could enter some structures. Driving conditions will become hazardous, with some road and bridge closures possible. Tornadoes are not expected at this time.

Residents should act now to secure outdoor items, prepare for potential power outages, and heed any flood watches and warnings. For more information and safety tips, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
