Winter Haven Man Arrested for Fake Emergency Lights
A 20-year-old Winter Haven man faces a felony charge after using red and blue LED lights mounted on his Chevy truck to force other drivers out of his way, authorities said.
Misael Guerrero-Ramirez was arrested June 9 in Wahneta after a motorist reported being pulled over by the truck flashing emergency lights around 10:27 p.m. A Polk County Sheriff's Office deputy located the vehicle on Bomber Road and found the LED lights on the windshield.
Guerrero-Ramirez told the deputy he activates the lights on drivers who brake-check him to make them move. He was charged with impersonation of a law enforcement officer, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Florida law reserves red and blue emergency lights for law enforcement, fire rescue and other authorized emergency vehicles.
