GO Health Launches National Public Health Week Programs
The Genesee and Orleans County Health Departments will celebrate National Public Health Week from April 6-12, highlighting programs that serve residents across both counties.
This year's theme, "Ready. Set. Action!," focuses on the daily work GO Health performs. Paul Pettit, Public Health Director, said the week offers an opportunity for residents to learn about available programs.
GO Health runs several divisions. The Children with Special Needs Program connects children with developmental or physical needs to resources. Community Health Services tracks diseases, manages immunization clinics, and serves mothers and children. Environmental Health staff ensure safe drinking water, inspect food establishments, and investigate rabies cases. The Lead Poisoning Prevention program educates residents on lead hazards and manages grants for home remediation.
The Public Health Education team recently completed a 2025-2030 Community Health Assessment identifying three priority areas: poverty, anxiety and stress, and preventive services for chronic disease prevention and control.
GO Health also operates Public Health Emergency Preparedness and a Weights and Measures program that tests devices and fuel quality.
The department encourages residents to explore CredibleMind, a confidential digital platform offering mental health tools and resources.
Residents can learn more at GOHealthNY.org or follow GO Health on Facebook, Instagram, and X.
