Water Meter Replacement Project Underway

The City of Luverne has contracted with Joel Adelman of JA Consulting LLC to replace and install new water meters in residential and business properties in Luverne. This project will ensure accurate and efficient water usage measurement to improve our utility services. You will be contacted if your water meter is needing replacement. Please contact City Offices with any questions.

Brews & Bears Returns to Asheville

"Brews & Bears returns to the WNC Nature Center on Friday, May 8, launching another season of after-hours fundraising events for Friends of the WNC Nature Center. The event runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Western North Carolina Nature Center, 75 Gashes Creek Road in Asheville. Guests can explore the park after normal hours, watch black bears Uno and Ursa receive enrichment, and learn more about local wildlife conservation efforts. Friday’s event lineup includes beer from Highland Brewing, cider from Appalachian Mountain Brewery, wine from MetroWines, craft soda from Devil’s Foot and coffee from Travelin’ Tom’s. Empty Bowls Fundraiser Returns

"Local ceramic artists have begun to fire up their kilns for the 9th year to help hungry children across Henderson County. The Empty Bowls organization will serve a community meal benefiting the Flat Rock Backpack Program Sunday, May 17, in the Parish Hall of the Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness in Flat Rock. Advanced tickets are strongly recommended for the two seatings: 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Attendees of the event may come any time during their seating window. Each ticket includes your choice of one hand-crafted bowl (all donated by area potters) and a soup-based meal with a variety of soups, breads, and homemade cookies. For those wishing to eat at home, take-away is an available option. Tickets are $30 per person. Children under 12 eat free. Limited tickets may be available at the door on the day of the event. Appalachian Foraging School Near Asheville

"Wandering Home: Appalachian Foraging School will continue its spring course near Asheville with May sessions scheduled Thursday, May 21, and Thursday, May 28. The course is hosted by Foraging Home and is designed as a small-cohort learning experience in forests and fields around the Asheville region. Sessions run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and focus on practical foraging skills, wild foods, herbalism and nature connection in Southern Appalachia. The program is led by Bek Jopling of Foraging Home and Abby Artemisia of The Wander School, who combine decades of experience teaching wild food, herbalism and nature-based learning.
