Morgan A. Porter Jr. 1933-2026Morgan (Bud) was born on July 13th, 1933 in Euclid, Ohio to parents Morgan Sr. and Marie (Dye) Porter.He graduated from Charles F. Brush High School in Ohio and attended forestry classes at Ohio State University before he met his wife, Shirley, on a blind date while working with his cousin for the summer in Michigan. They married on December 10th, 1955. He joined the US Army, in which he served for almost 2 years as a private first class from 1956-1957, stationed in Alaska before being honorably discharged. After being discharged from the army, he was employed at Johnson Controls and found a home to raise their four boys in Perry, MI. Upon Bud’s retirement, they moved to St. James City, FL. After 26 years in Florida, they moved back to Michigan. He passed peacefully in his sleep at his apartment in the Indigo of Lansing on May 9th, 2026.Bud was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He loved being with family. He enjoyed his boat and going camping and fishing. Bud always had a meticulous yard and was regularly out working in the garden or mowing. He was an avid sports fan, always watching some game but never rooting for a particular team.Preceding him in death were his parents, Morgan Sr. and Marie Porter; his wife, Shirley, of 70 years; three of their sons, Keith, Scott, and Doug; and his grandson, Jefferson.He is survived by his sister, Susan Grey; son, Pete (Angie) Porter; daughters-in-law, Ginny Porter and Jeanie Porter; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren, as well as friends and extended family.Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15th from 5-7 pm with the rosary prayed from 7-7:30 pm and on Saturday, May 16th from 10-11 am. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 16th. Visitation and the funeral service will be held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 214 S. Main St., Perry, MI 48872. Msgr.
