Gainesville High School graduate Ashley St. Pierre is the producer of 'Ordinary Angels,' a feature film that will have its national theater release on February 23. The movie tells the true story of a Kentucky hairdresser who rallies her community to support a widowed father and his critically ill young daughter.

St. Pierre, a member of the GHS Class of 2011, has pursued a career in filmmaking since childhood. Her passion for the industry was nurtured through a television production class at Gainesville High and an internship at Universal Pictures. She stated that she began making movies as soon as she was old enough to hold a camera.

'I think it’s a beautiful, true story, and I hope it really inspires people,' St. Pierre said about the film.

'Ordinary Angels' is based on events that occurred in 1994. Sarah Parsons, a hairdresser, learned about Michelle Schmitt, a young girl suffering from a rare liver disease, and her father, Ed, who was struggling to cover her medical expenses. Parsons organized community efforts to raise funds and provide support, ultimately helping the family avoid foreclosure and find a new home.
