9-17-26 Development Review Committee Meeting
"The Alachua County Development Review Committee will meet on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, in the Jack Durrance Auditorium on the second floor of the Alachua County Administration Building (12 SE 1st St., Gainesville). This meeting begins at 1:30 p.m.
The committee will take public comments in person only. The meeting is not available live on Cox Channel 12, but is available on the AC TV app (Apple TV, Amazon Fire, Roku), and the county’s video-on-demand website.
Items for the Development Review Committee meeting:
NW 110th Avenue Rural Subdivision – This is a Preliminary and Final Development Plan and Plat for three lots on 15 acres. It is located on a portion of Tax Parcel Numbers 04008-005-005 and 04008-005-003 at 16817 NW 110th Avenue.
UF Psych Hospital addition and Renovations – This is a Revised Final Development Plan for an approximately 12,800 sq. ft. expansion of an existing hospital and associated infrastructure improvements on approximately 20.60 acres. It is located on Tax Parcel Number 06041-003-000 at 4101 NW 89th Blvd.

Historical Marker Ceremony to Honor Lynching Victims
"The Waldo-Hawthorne-Campville-Rochelle Subcommittee of the Alachua County Community Remembrance Project will hold a historical marker installation ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, at Veterans Memorial Park at the Caboose (14705 NE Waldo Road, Waldo).
The ceremony is open to the public and will commemorate victims of racial terror lynchings in the Waldo, Hawthorne, Campville and Rochelle communities.
Held in partnership with Alachua County and the Equal Justice Initiative, the event is part of a broader effort to educate the community about racial terror lynchings throughout Alachua County during the Jim Crow era and advance truth and reconciliation.
“Alachua County is proud to have been a partner in the Truth and Reconciliation Project over the years,” said Carl Smart, Alachua County’s executive liaison for public safety and community relations. “Programs like this help educate our community, preserve our history and foster healing.”

Fiber Education and Digital Literacy Event
"The Alachua County Broadband Initiative is hosting a free Fiber Education and Digital Literacy event on Friday, Sept. 25, 2026, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the Alachua County Senior Recreation Center (5701 NW 34th Blvd., Gainesville).
This event, in partnership with Kinetic, will focus on fiber broadband education, cybersecurity and digital literacy.
The program will introduce residents to fiber internet technology, essential technology skills and web-based tools that support everyday life at home, work and school. Participants will learn how to protect personal information online, recognize cyber scams, understand the benefits of fiber internet, and use digital tools more effectively.
This event is part of the Kinetic Digital Literacy Program, supported through the Alachua County Broadband Deployment Assistance Grant.

1. Development Review Committee Meeting
The public is encouraged to submit any written or photographic documents prior to the meeting to https://growth-management.alachuacounty.us/PublicComment.
No later than 7 calendar days prior to the hearing, an individual or entity wishing to participate as a party in a quasi-judicial public hearing must provide the County with a written request to be considered as a party. The request must include a factual basis for why the requestor believes that he or she should be allowed to participate as a party.
Please send your requests to be considered a party to https://growthmanagement.alachuacounty.us/PublicComment. The Development Review Committee shall consider written requests for party status at the outset of the hearing and make a determination of which requesting individuals or entities qualify for party status in the hearing.
If an individual or entity intends to participate as a party and provide evidence, beyond testimony at the public hearing, the individual or entity must provide electronic copies of all evidence to the appropriate County staff no later than 5 calendar days prior to the hearing. Any evidence provided electronically will be entered into the record and provided to all identified parties. In addition to any other comments, interested persons are invited to submit comments on whether the proposal will have a significant impact on the cost of housing.
All persons are advised that, if they decide to appeal any decision made at this public hearing or meeting, they will need a record of the proceedings and, for such purposes, they may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
