Temperatures are expected to drop to the mid to upper 30s by daybreak Friday, October 2nd. The NWS states that clear to partly cloudy skies, light winds, and dry air will contribute to the formation of patchy to areas of frost. The highest likelihood of frost is in the far northeast corner of South Dakota and west-central Minnesota.
Residents should take precautions to protect sensitive outdoor plants and cover or bring indoors any items that could be damaged by frost. The Special Weather Statement is effective from October 1, 2026, at 3:07 PM UTC and expires at 10:00 PM UTC.
